Getting there from Königsdorf

  • By car: about 50 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. It is very busy around the ski jump on New Year's Day – set off early and follow the organiser's parking and traffic advice.
  • By train: Garmisch-Partenkirchen has its own station; the organiser gives details on walking routes and shuttles.
  • Dress warmly: you will be outside for several hours – sturdy winter boots, a hat and a seat pad help.

New Year's Day without ski jumping

Prefer something quieter? Walk the Path of History in Königsdorf, pick a winter walk from our hiking guide or visit Lake Walchensee and Lake Kochel. The ski jumping is traditionally broadcast live on TV. For the evening before, see New Year's Eve in the Tölzer Land.
