On Saturday 12 December 2026, the grounds of the Jugendsiedlung Hochland by the river Isar turn into a Christmas market in the woods: campfire, bread on a stick, lights between the trees and local crafts. For our guests it is the Christmas market right on the doorstep – just a few minutes' drive from the Schlossquelle in Königsdorf.

The Waldweihnachtsmarkt – locally often simply called the Christmas market at the Hochlandlager – takes place on Saturday 12 December 2026, the third weekend of Advent. According to the organiser it is open from 11 am to 8 pm. The host is Jugendsiedlung Hochland e.V., whose youth education centre lies on more than 30 hectares of protected landscape in the Isar floodplain.

Instead of a town square there are trees, fairy lights and wooden stalls on natural ground. The market is small, friendly and entirely outdoors. Together with local clubs and volunteers, the organiser offers:
For families this is one of the loveliest Advent dates around Königsdorf. Children bake their own bread over the fire, make things at the craft stations and watch the puppet show while adults stroll around in peace. Everything takes place outdoors, so dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes – the forest floor can be wet or frozen in December – and bring a torch for the way back after dark.
Back at the Schlossquelle your car stands in our free car park and electric cars can charge at our charging point. Dogs are very welcome with us.
