River meadows, moors, monasteries and mountain views: around Königsdorf you cycle on quiet paths – starting right at the front door.
The Isar cycle path is one of Bavaria's best-known river cycle routes. The section between Bad Tölz and Wolfratshausen runs through riverside forests and along gravel banks – swimming stops included. From Königsdorf you reach the Isar on quiet side roads. Our tip: towards Bad Tölz in the morning, lunch on the Marktstraße, back in the afternoon. More about the town in our Bad Tölz guide.
Just before Wolfratshausen, the Isar valley widens into the Pupplinger Au, one of the most natural wild-river landscapes in Upper Bavaria. It's worth leaving your bike and walking a little. Please stay on the paths in the nature reserve.
West of Königsdorf flows the Loisach. A lovely loop leads via Beuerberg with its abbey, along the Loisach towards Wolfratshausen and back through the moors. To the south you can follow the Loisach towards Kochel – ideal for e-bikes. More about the lakes there in our Walchensee & Kochelsee guide.
East of Königsdorf, a hilly loop leads to the Kirchsee, a moorland lake with soft water. Right next to it is Reutberg Abbey with its brewery inn and beer garden – Alpine views included. Perfect for an afternoon with a swim.
Right on the doorstep lie wide moorlands with farm tracks, meadows and open views of the Benediktenwand. Just right for a short evening ride after you arrive.
