Lenggries' local mountain is the largest ski area in the Tölzer Land and, for many people from Munich and the Bavarian Oberland, the classic ski day on the doorstep. According to the Brauneck-Bergbahn's operating hours, the Brauneck gondola runs in winter from 5 December 2026 to 29 March 2027. The ski lifts, however, open depending on snow conditions – the operator states "December 2026 to March 2027". So there is no fixed date for the first day on the pistes; it depends on natural snow and the conditions for snowmaking.
In storms, lifts may close at short notice for safety reasons, says the operator. Check the lift and piste status on the Brauneck-Bergbahn website in the morning.
The Brauneck-Bergbahn has published its day and hourly passes for winter 2026/27. A selection (all prices according to the operator, incl. VAT):
All prices are plus a €3 deposit for the rechargeable chip card – so keep it for your next ski day. Multi-day passes in the Alpen Plus network are also valid at Spitzingsee, Sudelfeld and Wallberg; a 2-day pass costs €106 for adults. According to the Brauneck-Bergbahn, the Alpen Plus season pass is on presale at the ticket office from 9 to 21 November 2026 (Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm).
An offer many people don't know: the MVV Brauneck ski pass 2026/27 combines the return journey within the entire MVV network to Lenggries station, the RVO bus from the station to the valley station or Wegscheid, and the day pass for the ski area in one ticket. According to the Brauneck-Bergbahn it costs €67 for adults, €62 for teenagers aged 15 to 18 and €32 for children aged 6 to 14. It is available from MVV customer centres and all MVV ticket machines (not on buses and trams).
For guests staying in Königsdorf this is especially interesting if you'd like to leave the car behind: Lenggries is the terminus of the railway line from Munich via Holzkirchen and Bad Tölz.
For an overview of all ski areas within reach, see our guide Ski areas from Königsdorf.
The gondola's season start falls on 5 December – the same day as the Lichterzauber (festival of lights) in Lenggries, according to Tölzer Land Tourismus. A ski day or a first gondola ride in the morning combines beautifully with an Advent evening in the village. The weekend before, the Christmas market in Bad Tölz opens – see our Bad Tölz guide for more ideas around the town.
For families with children, the wooden chalet with two bedrooms and a play and reading gallery is ideal: after skiing, the gallery is the cosiest place in the house. Couples stay in the apartment with a south-west terrace, perfect for the afternoon sun on bright winter days. And if the weather doesn't play along, try our rainy-day trips in the Tölzer Land.
